IS THE VICE PRESIDENT IN THE RUNNING? U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris garners a higher voter intention than the current President, Joe Biden.

Should she face former President Donald Trump in the November elections, Trump currently leads in both scenarios.

A survey released this Tuesday by CNN indicates that if the situation remains as it is, with a Biden-Trump showdown:

49% of voters would trust the Republican, while 43% would favor the Democrat, according to the EFE agency.

If Harris were the candidate, 47% would vote for Trump, and 45% for her.

That margin of difference, according to the channel, is narrow enough to suggest that in that scenario «there is no clear leader.»

Harris’s support partly comes from greater backing by women and independent voters: half of the female voters would back Harris.

Against 44% who would favor Trump, and among independents, the vice president leads the Republican candidate by nine percentage points.

A Majority of Votes?

The conversation around a new Democratic candidate has taken shape after Biden’s weak performance in the June 27 debate.

He appeared hesitant, unable to finish some sentences, and failed to counter Trump’s falsehoods.

Since then, other Democratic names have emerged as alternatives, though no one has stepped forward.

If California Governor Gavin Newsom were the candidate, Trump would receive 48% of the vote, and Newsom 43%.

What Do the Numbers Show?

With Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, there is also a five-point difference, in that scenario, 47% to 43%.

In general, according to the CNN survey, voters prefer any other Democratic candidate over Biden.

75% believe the party would have better chances on November 5 if the nominee were not the current president.

Among those who identify as Democrats, the opinion that an alternative would be better also prevails.

Do the Figures Favor Kamala Harris?

56% believe the party would fare better with another candidate, compared to 43% who still support Biden.

The president has already stated that he does not plan to step down:

«I wouldn’t run again if I didn’t believe with all my heart and soul that I can do the job,» he declared.

«There’s too much at stake,» he said the day after his face-off with Trump, which took place at CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta.

Is Donald Trump the Favorite for These Elections?

Donald Trump, on the other hand, maintains the favor of his electorate.

83% of Republicans believe the conservative party will do better in November with him as the candidate, 11 percentage points more than those who thought so in January.

CNN emphasizes that, despite the former president’s lead in the polls, the general opinion about him remains low.

39% have a good opinion of him, and 54% a bad one, percentages similar to those expressed last fall. WITH INFORMATION FROM EFE.
